Description

Miles: The New Miles Davis Quintet marks the debut of Miles Davis's classic quintet, with John Coltrane alongside Red Garland, Paul Chambers, and Philly Joe Jones. This 2024 Original Jazz Classics edition from Craft Recordings is pressed on 180-gram vinyl and features all-analog mastering from the original tapes by Kevin Gray at Cohearent Audio, with lacquers cut at RTI. The album chronicles the group's early modern jazz explorations, opening with Just Squeeze Me, There Is No Greater Love, and How Am I to Know, then S'posin, The Theme, and Stablemates. A foundational recording in the Davis catalog, it highlights Davis's evolving trumpet voice and the quartet's inventive interplay.
