Description

This volume consists of the first of the John Dewey Lectures delivered under the auspices of Columbia University's Philosophy Department as well as other essays by the author. Intended to clarify the meaning of the philosophical doctrines propounded by Professor Quine in “Word and Objects”, the essays included herein both support and expand those doctrines. All are intimately related and concern themselves with three philosophical preoccupations: the nature of meaning, the meaning of existence, and the nature of natural knowledge.

Published 1969.

Binding of book is tight. Slight wear and tear, and foxing on covers of book. Some foxing around edges of book, more evident on top and fore edge. Slight foxing on insides of covers. Stamp on first page, otherwise pages in very good condition.
