This book is a collection of essays written during the post-war period by Professor T. H. Silcock, Emeritus Professor of Economics at the University of Malaya. The aim of each essay is to assist the development of a sense of Malayan nationality within the plural society of Malaya. The essays address questions of immediate interest to all who consider Malaya their home, such as citizenship and race, the future of the University, self-government, the role of the teacher, and the position of Singapore. These discussions are related to the achievement of a unified Malayan nation.
